Did you know that blankets are not recommended for newborn baby bedding?  The main reason for this is the risk of accidental suffocation.  Babies also tend to move around a lot while sleeping and kick off any blankets which are there to keep them warm.  The solution to these problems can be found in safe, comfortable, organic sleepwear.   The terminology used for the different kinds of sleepwear can be pretty confusing at first because each manufacturer prefers to use their own jargon.  In general here is the list of names to look for; Buntings (Sleep sacks), Gowns, and Footies.

Even though organic cotton is incredibly soft and breathable, you will definitely want to change them often for the best comfort and hygiene for your baby.  The number of sleep wear needed on hand depends on how frequently you do laundry.   However, we generally recommend 5- 7 pieces with a wide variety of sleep wear such as 1-2 Buntings, 2-3 gowns, 2-3 footies, because babies sleep a lot and sweat a lot.
